Ok, I must confess that at a glance the title for this message is a bit misleading but only in the sense that I am talking about the Ark of the Covenant!! The Holy Spirit gave me this understanding a couple years ago and it is such a great example of the benefits of putting ourself “on the seen” as we read the Bible!! What I’m referring to is found in the Gospel of John and when Mary looks into the tomb and sees the two angels…one sitting at the head and one at the foot of where Jesus was laid. Now let’s look back to Exodus 25 and Gods instructions to Moses in regards to the building of the Ark of the Covenant. Exodus 25:17-18, 22a says, “You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth. And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat. There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from above the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony.” THIS IS HUGE RIGHT??!!!! Just like the curtain tearing at the temple, but even more symbolic in my eyes. The implications of this are many and they are all AMAZING!! I am purposely going to stop here in hopes that you will meditate on what you’ve just read. Think about what that means that Jesus is the Mercy Seat of God and how by definition God said that this Seat would always be where He could be found. God could have used one angel or any means He wanted to convey a message, but EVERYthing written in The Word of God is written with purpose and meaning!!!!! Agape
